The first element of the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel between Germany and Denmark could be lowered off the Danish island of Lolland as early as this spring, Danish state-owned construction company Sund & Bælt said on Thursday. Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has accused the German government of suppressing opposition voices amid controversy over a planned visit to Russia by several politicians from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
